What Types of Headaches Do You Suffer From?
In order to better diagnose your headache, it is important for you to understand what type of headache you are experiencing. By telling us what type of headache you are experiencing, it will help us to quickly pinpoint the cause and start effectively treating the problem.
This type of headache is very general and covers a wide range of headaches. A Common Headache is a dull, throbbing pain that can originate from any part of the head. The pain intensity can range from mild to very severe.
Migraines are severe and constant headaches. The pain can be so severe that it limits your ability to function correctly. Some common symptoms of a Migraine include: dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, sensitivity to noise, numbness, difficulty concentrating, confusion and sudden fatigue.
A headache is considered a Chronic Headache if the headache occurs 2-3 times a week.
A Tension Headache is a headache that deals with muscle contractions and varies in pain from mild to moderate. The feeling most often associated with tension headaches is extreme pressure on the sides of the head.
Cluster Headaches are extreme headaches that occur periodically. The headache will come for periods of 15 minutes to several hours and then go away, only to return again at a later time.
Sinus Headaches or Sinus Infection Headaches:
Sinus Headaches are caused by inflammation in the sinuses. The area effected by the pain can vary based on where the inflammation is located. For example, if the frontal sinuses are affected, there will be pain in the front of the head just above the eyebrows. If the ethmoid sinuses are affected, pain will be felt between the eyes. When the maxillary sinuses are affected, pain will be experienced in the cheekbone areas. The pain from this type of headache is from dull to rapid sharp pain.
A headache that is caused by medication is considered a Medication Headache. Theses headaches often feel like a migraine or tension headache.
A toxic headache comes from different toxins. These types of headaches can be the result of toxic chemicals, alcohol, insecticides, pesticides, household cleaners or a build-up of toxins within the body typically due to an organ not functioning properly.
