You Might Just Think You Have An Upset Stomach

Food lovers beware!  This information may just change your life!  You may notice that as soon as you decide to follow a strict diet, all the foods you cut out seem much more tempting and even more delicious.  This temptation can prove too much sometimes and limiting ourselves can result in overindulgence.  Often times, we end up eating more than intended, whether it is eating the foods we were trying to avoid or replacement foods trying to satisfy that craving for the things we shouldn’t have on our diet.

The overeating that we tried to avoid in the first place can cause indigestion or heartburn; however, these two things are the most common symptoms of an upset stomach. More often than not, we try to avoid or ignore those symptoms hoping they will just go away.  This is where the danger lies though, as those who suffer from prolonged heartburn and indigestion are often experiencing symptoms of acid reflux as opposed to the common stomach ache originally believe.

GERD

Judging from its name, acid reflux has the feeling of a general acid disorder; however, this couldn’t be further from the truth.  Acid reflux is also known as GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease.  Now that sounds a lot more serious doesn’t it?  Symptoms of GERD can include:

●Repetitive heartburn

●A sour acidic taste in the mouth

●Difficulty swallowing food

●The feeling of a continuous lump in your throat

Why is Acid Reflux Relief So Important??

People suffering from obesity, diabetes and asthma are more likely to experience acid reflux.  Since it is not easily diagnosed, you may be unable to detect GERD at its initial stage and may just shrug it off. However, the results of this disease are quite serious.  Acid Reflux disease can result in permanent loss of tooth enamel and can even lead to more dire consequences such as throat cancer.

What Can I Do To Avoid Acid Reflux and GERD?

The basic ways of avoiding acid reflux and GERD start with abstaining from spicy and acidic foods and living a healthy lifestyle while focusing on satiating hunger with vitamin rich foods.
