Is chiropractic care safe for my baby or child?

Chiropractic care for children tends to be a sensitive subject with a lot of people. But the truth is, chiropractic care for children is endorsed and supported by both the American Chiropractic Association (aca) and the Chiropractic Pediatrics of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA). It is safe to bring children of all ages into the chiropractor, even infants.

What kinds of conditions can chiropractic help my child with?

The neuro-musculoskeletal system plays a major role in the happiness and health of your child. If a child’s neuro-musculoskeletal system is not operating to its full capacity, it may affect their mood and cause certain dysfunctions to arise. The most common reason that parents will bring their baby or child into our office is so that we can help them remedy:

How soon after birth should I have my infant adjusted?

If you think about it, passing through the birth canal during childbirth can have a lot of strenuous effects on a little body. Bringing in your infant to the chiropractor can help alieve the effects that journey has caused on their spinal chord and back. The earlier that you can have your child’s spine and nervous system assessed, the more you are able to encourage their neural plasticity and health. As a good rule of thumb, we advise new parents to bring their little ones in for their first adjustment between 2-4 weeks. This allows us to see assess and detect any locked joints before they cause too many problems.

I feel like my kid is always sick. Can chiropractic help with that?

It’s important to remember that every child is different. But, despite these differences, our immune systems all rely on a healthy brain to body connection. If your child’s neuro-musculoskeletal system isn’t aligned, it isn’t allowing their immune system to work properly. Chiropractic care specifically addresses the needs of someone’s neuro-musculoskeletal system, so by bring in your child, you give them the advantage of achieving a healthier immune system.

Can chiropractic help my child sleep better

Chiropractic adjustments have been known to drastically improve the sleep habits of young children. If a child is suffering from tension along their cranial bones, it directly interferes with their sleep habits.
